How have you chosen to organize the assistance for your child? Are you employed or do you have other employees?
It is only the family that works. At the moment we don't want anyone from outside as the child is very safe with the family because of his disability.
What has it been like from the beginning? When was the child granted assistance?
About a year ago, they received assistance. We previously lived in another municipality that did not provide information about the services available. When we moved to another municipality, it was a special educator from the habilitation service who recommended personal assistance. We then sent an application to the municipality and the Social Insurance Agency. We were rejected by the Social Insurance Agency but the municipality granted assistance for the child. From the time we sent in the application, it took about a month to get the decision.
How do your lives differ from another family with children who do not have personal assistance?
There is much more stress in the family and it affects the child. Now with assistance, it creates less stress and less worry. This is because the family can work with the child instead of having other jobs.
We also feel less stressed because the economy has improved.
Challenges of having assistance?
We do not see any at present.
What are the opportunities with assistance?
Less stress and more time for the child.
Why is the assistance important for the child?
Peace of mind, no worries and more time with the child.
What was life like before the assistance was granted?
There was a lot of stress and worry. We didn't have the same time with the child and felt that the family had no control.
Have you used other assistance companies? What do you appreciate about Carelli?
We have not had any other companies before but were advised by the administrator about Carelli. Carelli really lives up to the administrator's praise. The cooperation works excellently and we trust Carelli very much. Carelli has and shows great understanding. The area managers explain things very well and simply, which avoids misunderstandings. It feels like a big family, that we can talk to Carelli (the area managers) about everything.
